Mechanisms recent by which vitamin D regulates the immune system, both innate as their adaptive systems, and reflects the link between serum levels of vitamin D and viral infections.
Vitamin D has long been recognized as a crucial element of the skeletal system in the human body. Recent tests have indicated that vitamin D also plays an essential role in the immune response against viral infections.
Low levels of vitamin D in serum was linked to an increase in viral diseases such as hepatitis, influenza, Covid-19, and AIDS.
The benefits of supplementing vitamin D in people with an infectious disease may extend beyond the impact on bone and calcium homeostasis.
